PetOrbit Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
PetOrbit (“we,” “us,” “the app”) is a pet-care companion app for dog and cat owners.
This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and who it is shared
with. We built PetOrbit to work without you creating an account, and we do not use any
third-party advertising or analytics/tracking software.
No account required
You do not need to create an account, and we do not ask for a password. When you first
open the app, it creates an anonymous session identified by a random ID stored on your device.
We ask you to choose a display name so the app can greet you and label your content. We do not
collect your email address or require a login.
Information you provide
- Your display name, which you choose on first launch.
- Pet profiles — your pet’s name, species, breed, age, optional birthday,
accent color, and photos you add.
- Pet care records — health, diet/hydration, vaccination entries, reminders,
and daily routines you create for your pets.
- Questions you type into the AI Care Coach.
- Service-booking details — if you book a pet service, the contact name and
phone number you enter for that booking.
- Photos you upload for your pets. Please note these are stored in our cloud
storage and are accessible to anyone who has the direct image link.
Information collected automatically
- Anonymous user ID — a random identifier for your session, so your data
stays associated with you on your device.
- Approximate and precise location — only when you use location-based
features (for example, the “Nearby” tab to find pet-friendly places). Precise location is
requested through your device’s standard permission prompt and is used only to fulfill your
request at that time; we do not store it as part of your profile. We may also derive an
approximate location from your IP address to show locally relevant tips and services.
- Push notification token — if you enable notifications, a device token so
we can deliver reminder notifications.
- In-app activity — basic engagement events (such as opening the app or
logging a meal) used only to power in-app streaks and rewards. This is not shared with
advertisers or used to track you across other apps or websites.
What we do NOT collect
- Microphone / audio. The “Magic Mic” feature analyzes your pet’s sounds
entirely on your device using on-device AI. Your recordings are never uploaded to us or any
third party, and are discarded after analysis.
- No email addresses or passwords.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA), and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-tracking software.
How your information is used
- To provide and personalize the app’s features (pet profiles, reminders, daily tips, AI
coaching, nearby places).
- To send reminder notifications you have enabled.
- To generate AI text (care tips and coach answers) and AI placeholder images for pets.
Third-party services
We share the minimum information needed to provide specific features:
- Supabase — our cloud backend and storage provider, which hosts your pet
profiles, care records, and uploaded photos.
- AI text provider — to generate Care Coach answers and daily tips, we send
the relevant prompt, which may include your pet’s details, your typed question, and, for
local tips, an approximate location description.
- AI image provider (Pollinations) — we send a text description only, to
generate a placeholder pet image; no personal data is sent.
- AI photo analysis (Google Gemini) — if you use the optional “Photo Health
Check” to scan a close-up of your pet, that photo (and any pet details you’ve added) is sent to
Google’s Gemini API to return informational, non-diagnostic guidance. We use Gemini’s free
tier; under Google’s free-tier terms, content you submit may be used by Google to improve its
services. This feature is optional and only runs when you tap to take and send a photo.
- Mapping / geocoding (OpenStreetMap Nominatim, ipwho.is / ipapi.co) — to
convert location or IP into a place name for local features.
- Booking hand-off (Rover.com) — if you choose to book a service, we may
open a partner site with your approximate location so it can show relevant providers.
- Apple Push Notification service / Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to
deliver notifications you enable.
- Shopping links (Amazon) — opening a product search sends only your typed
search text to the external site.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained while you use the app. You can delete individual pets, records, and
photos within the app. To request deletion of all data associated with your session, contact us
at the email below and we will delete it.
Children’s privacy
PetOrbit is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do
not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our cloud provider.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect
your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating
the “Last updated” date above.
